Dr James Whitfield
Program Director — Remote Medical Practitioner
MBBS, FRNZCGP, Dip. Remote Medicine
Dr Whitfield has over 20 years of experience delivering medical care in remote and resource-limited environments across the Pacific and Southeast Asia. He leads the design and delivery of the Core Remote Medical Practitioner Distance Education Units and has trained more than 2,000 practitioners globally.
Dr Sarah Okonkwo
Senior Faculty — Wilderness & Expedition Medicine
MD, DTM&H, Dip. Mountain Medicine
Dr Okonkwo is a specialist in tropical and expedition medicine with extensive field experience across sub-Saharan Africa, the Himalayas, and the Amazon basin. She leads ISRMP's Wilderness and Expedition Medicine programs from the London office and is a fellow of the Wilderness Medical Society.
Dr Marcus Chen
Faculty Lead — Maritime Medicine
MBBS, MMED (Occ. Health), Dip. Maritime Medicine
Dr Chen brings 18 years of offshore and maritime medical experience, having served as medical officer on oil platforms, research vessels, and commercial shipping routes across the Asia-Pacific. He leads ISRMP's Maritime Medicine program and advises several international shipping companies on medical standards.
Dr Amelia Foster
Faculty — Remote Medicine & Telemedicine
MBBS, FRACGP, Grad. Cert. Telehealth
Dr Foster is a pioneer in telemedicine integration for remote clinical practice. Based in Vancouver, she leads the telemedicine and remote consultation modules across ISRMP's programs and has developed frameworks for real-time clinical decision support in geographically isolated settings.
Dr Rafael Santos
Faculty — Expedition & Wilderness Medicine
MD, MSc Wilderness Medicine, FAWM
Dr Santos is a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine with extensive experience leading medical teams on scientific and commercial expeditions in South America, Antarctica, and Central Asia. He specialises in high-altitude physiology, environmental emergencies, and improvised medical care.
Dr Priya Nair
Faculty — Aviation Medicine
MBBS, Dip. Aviation Medicine, DAME
Dr Nair is a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner with over 15 years of experience in civil and military aviation medicine. She leads ISRMP's Aviation Medicine program, covering in-flight emergencies, aeromedical evacuation, and the physiological challenges of high-altitude flight environments.
Col. David McAllister (Ret.)
Faculty Lead — Tactical Medicine
MBBS, Dip. Military Medicine, TCCC Instructor
Colonel McAllister retired from the British Army Medical Corps after 25 years of service, including deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq, and multiple humanitarian operations. He leads ISRMP's Tactical Medicine program, drawing on direct combat casualty care experience to train civilian and military medical professionals.
Prof. Helen Marsh
Academic Director & Faculty — Research Methods

Professor Marsh oversees ISRMP's academic framework and research output. With a PhD in remote healthcare delivery and over 30 years in medical education, she ensures all ISRMP programs meet international academic standards and drives the organisation's evidence-based curriculum development.

Prof. David Nakamura
Director of Education
Academic leader and researcher in remote healthcare delivery. Author of three textbooks on austere environment medicine and over 60 peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Sofia Reyes
Director of Global Operations
Oversees ISRMP's international partnerships and regional offices. Former humanitarian medical coordinator with MSF and the International Red Cross.
